Dr. Kovatis brings over 24 years of experience as an orthopedic specialist focused on the foot, ankle, and leg. He treats a wide variety of conditions, including complex fractures of the leg, trauma, chronic disorders and general orthopedics. Throughout his career, Dr. Kovatis has worked with prestigious performers and athletes, including those from the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Broadway productions, and both New York baseball teams. He earned his medical degree from UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School, where he also completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency, before completing a fellowship in foot and ankle orthopedics at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Dr. Kovatis has held numerous leadership roles, including Past President and Past Chairman of the Medical Board at Hackensack-Meridian, and Past President of the Bergen County Medical Society. He has been recognized as a Top Doctor for several years and is known for his expertise in foot and ankle surgery, improving patient care, and advancing surgical techniques.

“My experience with Dr. Kovatis was outstanding. He’s conservative and wants to explore all options to avoid surgery if possible. In my case, heel surgery was required, where he cut a 2 inch incision from top down by my heel, he trimmed my Achilles tendon and had to cut a big bone spur off the heel that was piercing the tendon. He explained to me several times how much recovery time would be needed and the difficulties during it (like not touching my foot on the ground for a month). He was detailed and I knew what I was getting into before the surgery. The surgery went well. My recovery exceeded my expectations (and I think his also). 4 months later, I’m now walking (and even jogging when walking the dog) without pain where before the surgery, every step felt like an injury plagued Olympic event.
